A 50-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., has been charged in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in the community.
In August 2023, the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) began an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the Moncton area.
On November 8, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., members of the Codiac CRU and the NB IEU arrested a man in front of a hotel on Mountain Road in Moncton, in connection with the investigation. Following the arrest, two search warrants were obtained for a hotel room and a residence on Cedar Street. The search led police to seize quantities of what is believed to be fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and money.
On November 9th, Daniel Allain appeared in Moncton Provincial Court, and was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl. He was remanded into custody and is set to return to court on November 29 for a bail hearing.
This investigation was the result of a joint effort between the Codiac Regional RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit and the New Brunswick Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU). The New Brunswick IEU is made up of members from the New Brunswick RCMP, as well as municipal police and Justice and Public Safety officers in the province. These efforts aim to improve the coordinated response to the growing concerns of drugs, firearms, and organized crime within New Brunswick.
